Infants (approximately 0-3 years)

Our Nursery teachers are responsive day-by-day to the needs when caring for infants, where routines are determined from when the child arrives. Our Nursery environment is prepared to entice children’s curiosity and exploration where testing, trying and challenge is valued.
Play is open-ended and full of fun as we embrace the unknown of how children explore and experiment with their ideas and theories of how the world around them works. Once our young ones are mobile, they usually begin their independence with transporting resources from one place to another, engaging with music instruments and become very busy with clearing the tables, emptying bowls and often develop a real interest in hiding things in the most curious of places!

Nutrition

Meals are made age appropriate to provide those first tastes and textures. Our babies have a range of pureed fruit and vegetables readily available everyday. The infants are made a variety of cooked meals appropriate to their ages and stages. Giving bottles are special care times, where we take this time to nurture, hold, support or provide a comfortable space such as a pillow or small couch supervised, for both the infants and toddlers to create a feeling of warmth, connection and aroha.

 

Communication

For children aged approximately 0-12 months, we provide you with a communication journal so our teachers in the Infant Room can keep you updated with daily information about your childs day, such as their sleep times or bottles given throughout the day. We also use Storypark to share photos, videos and audio of your child’s development so you never miss out on those treasured milestones.

Transition

We encourage 3 settling visits, approximately 2 weeks before your child’s start date to ensure a smooth and settled transition for both you and your child.

 

Environment

Our infants have their own space, made up of a range of age, stage and developmental resources. We believe that with these items they are able to develop at their own pace, explore and gain an understanding of the world they live in. It encourages open-ended, spontaneous and child-led learning which is supported by the lovely team of teachers.
